16 - 1/4 cup buttermilk
17 - 1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
18 - 1 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
19 - 1 tsp garlic powder
20 - 1 tsp onion powder
21 - 1/2 tsp salt
22 - 1/4 tsp black pepper
23 - 1 tsp lemon juice

# How-To Steps:

01 - Boil salted water and cook pasta according to package directions. Drain thoroughly, rinse under cold water to stop cooking, and set aside.
02 - Cut chicken breasts into uniform bite-sized pieces, about 1-inch cubes.
03 - Arrange three shallow bowls: place flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and mix panko with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper in the third.
04 - Dredge each chicken piece in flour, shake off excess, dip into egg mixture, then press into panko mixture to coat evenly.
05 - Heat 1/2 inch vegetable oil in skillet over medium-high heat. Fry chicken in batches, turning once, until golden brown and cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
06 - Whisk mayonnaise, sour cream, buttermilk, dill, parsley, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and lemon juice in large bowl until smooth and well combined.
07 - Add cooked pasta, thawed peas, diced bell pepper, and green onions to dressing. Toss gently until all ingredients are evenly coated.
08 - Fold crispy chicken pieces into salad just before serving to maintain texture. Serve immediately or refrigerate 30 minutes for cold salad.

# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • That irresistible contrast between hot, crispy chicken and cold, tangy pasta
  • The ranch dressing hits every comfort food button while feeling fresh enough for summer
  • People will hover around your kitchen bowl just like we did
02 -
  • The chicken will lose its crunch if you toss it in too early, so wait until the very last minute.
  • Rinse the pasta thoroughly with cold water or it will keep cooking and get mushy.
  • Let the fried chicken drain on paper towels, excess oil makes the salad greasy.
03 -
  • Use a splatter guard when frying the chicken, cleanup is way easier.
  • Let the fried chicken rest on a wire rack instead of paper towels for maximum crunch retention.
